Tea Lane Architects is based in Celbridge, Co. Kildare. We engage in a diverse range of works, small and large, residential projects, commercial, bespoke retail, and workplaces across the island of Ireland.

We design architecture that enhances everyday life. Each space is shaped by a strong sense of place, meaningful engagement with people, and a clear sense of purpose. Our work balances function with a refinement of detail that quietly lifts the everyday.

Our approach is collaborative and considered. We work closely with clients and contractors, from the early stages of briefing through to delivery, ensuring the design intent is realised with the required rigour.

Every project is an opportunity to explore what we value most: connection to place and a responsibility to the environment. The buildings and fit-outs we create are designed to endure, supporting the evolving needs of those who live, work or gather within them.

Studio

Church Road in Celbridge, where our studio is based, is known locally as Tea Lane (or Tae Lane). The story goes that workers from Yorkshire were brought to Celbridge to work in the local mill in the 1800's. They lived in cottages along Tea Lane and on their short walk to the mill on the River Liffey they would discard their used tea leaves onto the road. Hence the road became known as Tea Lane.

Dain undertook a study of Celbridge Town as part of his Architectural Design Thesis in 2008. This culminated in a design proposal along the River Liffey bank, next to the old mill, for a new civic centre and market place which would connect to Castletown House via a river walkway. Tea Lane Architects is now based just 100m from that site, on none other than Tea Lane.
